BIOGRAPHY

Shigeo Arikawa(1982 Tokyo) is an artist and a filmmaker based in Amsterdam. He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2006. During his two-year residency at Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam, Netherland starting in 2014, he produced works in different mediums, such as video, installation, and photography. His works attempt at temporarily blinding our rational (or functional) understanding of human behavior and they do it by staging purposeless actions that require a temporary suspension of knowledge, of expectations, and even of beliefs. In recent years, Arikawa had solo shows and several group shows in Europe, he widens his activity also in Japan.
