BIOGRAPHY

Shigeo Arikawa is an artist and filmmaker from Tokyo, Japan based in Amsterdam who produces films, video installations, and photographic works. He graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2006 and was a resident at Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in 2014-2015.
In a world where uncertain information shakes people’s recognition and desires, sometimes causing errors, his works aim to question the meaning of ‘seeing’ by deliberately interrupting and agitating the human act of trying to understand and give sense to what we see.
In recent years, Arikawa had solo shows and group shows in Europe, and he has widened his activity also in Japan. His works were also screened at international film festivals worldwide.
